i) Ransie and his wife Ariela went to Justice Benaja’s office to get divorce because they could not get along with each other.
ii) Jusice Benaja  wanted to handover the decree of divorce to Ransie. Ariela stopped him from doing so because she wanted him to order Ransie to give her an alimony of five dollars.
iii) When Justice Benaja was going home, he was stopped by a man, who pointed a rifle at him and asked him to give him all the money he had.
iv) Justice Benaja was sad on seeing Ariela keep the money in he pocket because he had judged that it  was Ransie, who had taken the money from him at gunpoint and had given it to Ariela as alimony.
v) After getting the decree of divorce, Ransie and Ariela felt the pain of getting separated from each other. It made them realize that though they could not get along together yet the feelings of love persisted in their hearts for each other.
vi) There is an interesting end to the story. Justice Benaja took a sum of five dollars from Ransie for issuing the decree of divorce. Ransie got back these five dollars from Justice Benaja at gunpoint and paid it to his wife as alimony. However, Justice Benaja made Ariela to pay the sum of five dollars as fee fro getting married to Ransie again and finally got back the money.

d) Distance makes the heart grow fonder would be an apt title for the summary as it describes how the thought of getting separated from each other made Ransie and Ariela to realize the love they had for each other and that they could not live their lives separately.
